Cínovec - Dĕčín Vom Osterzgebirge an die Elbe
Cinovec, Parkplatz am Golfplatz
Dĕčín, Hauptbahnhof
We start in Cinovec, passing by the Mariä-Himmelfahrt church and a spring, pedalling leisurely on route 23 through woods to the turning towards Komáří hůrka (Mückenberg). Whilst on the route, the view from the new rest area Semihurska vyhlidka is well worth seeing. We highly recommend a detour to the Mückentürmchen (“fly tower”), which has the oldest look-out tower in the Ore Mountains. Travellers can also make the journey on the oldest and longest aerial cableway, ascending from Graupen/Bohosudov (Mariaschein). Bicycles can also be transported on the cableway. After enjoying the view, the journey continues on the 23 to Fojtovice (Voitsdorf), Adolfov (Adolfsgrün) to Krasny Les (Schönwald). After passing beneath the A 17/D8 motorway, we proceed to Petrovice and then to Tisa, the gateway to the rocky area of the Tissau Walls, declared a protected nature reserve in 1996. A nature trail leads through the sandstone formations, which are a magnet for climbers. The 23 takes us on to Snĕžnik. Here, too, we recommend stopping on the Děčínský Sněžník (Hoher Schneeberg) with its look-out tower.
We then cycle steeply downhill via Maxičky to Dĕčin (Tetschen), the town on the Elbe, along the river to the end of the stage at the main railway station. The Renaissance castle with its baroque rose garden, the Schäferwand sandstone rock massif, the zoological garden and climbing route are just some of the attractions Dĕčin has to offer.
