Lake Cospuden in the south of Leipzig is an example of regional development changing from an open-cast mining area to a vibrant tourist region.

In the south, the Bistumshöhe observation tower offers a fascinating view over the Neue Harth forest area. Lake Cospuden can be circumnavigated via an asphalted lakeside path.
